About Us

Established in 1932, Steinke Resort is a family owned and operated campground

A hidden gem, Steinke Resort is tucked away in an 8 acre hardwood grove that opens to the shore of Long Lake. Through  connecting channels Palmer and Lepley Lakes can also be acccessed. As a licensed summer campground, Steinke Resort provides respite to individuals and families looking to enjoy a variety of water-based activities such as fishing, swimming, boating, and kayaking.  Visitors may stay in one of the 143 camp sites or 5  cottages. Steinke Resort is an excellent family destination as it provides a play ground, swimming area, candy and bait store, picnic tables, access to the boat ramp, docks, and rental boats.  Nestled between the Magic Capital of the World and Amish country makes it the perfect place to step back to a quieter time.

Ammenities

At the office we sell a selection of candy, ice cream, and pop, bait and tackle, fishing licenses, and ice.

There is a nice area for walking and bicycling as we have a half mile private road leading back to the resort. Long Lake is one of three lakes connected by channels and controlled by a dam in the village of Colon. It has an average depth of 18’, an area of 225 acres, and is 1 ½ miles in length. The Resort is located on the south east portion of the lake near the inlet of the Big Swan Creek. The lake provides excellent panfishing for bluegills and crappies, large mouth bass, northern pike, walleye, catfish, bullheads, and other species are also present. Other boating activities are also enjoyed. Campfires are permitted and wood can be purchased at the office. Pets are allowed, but must be kept on a leash and quiet with owners responsible for any damages. We ask that everyone respects their neighbors in regards to noise.
